U.K. Companies Moving to Knowledge-Based Services, WNS CEO Tells Outsourcing Roundtable

Thursday, December 7, 2006

70 Percent of FTSE 250 Reviewing Business Process Outsourcing as

Viable Sourcing Strategy

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 2006--Realising the competitive benefits of outsourcing, U.K.-based companies increasingly are moving beyond transactional processes to outsource more complex, knowledge-based processes such as financial modeling and analytical support, Neeraj Bhargava, Group Chief Executive Officer of WNS Global Services, a leading offshore business process outsourcing (BPO) provider, said today.

WNS Global Services is the operating unit of WNS (Holdings) Limited (NYSE:WNS).

Mr. Bhargava made his remarks at a roundtable meeting of chief information officers and other corporate executives discussing ways U.K. companies could maximise their outsourcing investment. The roundtable, "Creating Value Through Partnerships," was organised by WNS and in association with IDC, the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets.

"Outsourcing offers specialised industry and functional expertise, predictable cost and risk management and increased efficiencies," Mr. Bhargava said. "It also allows executives to refocus time on core capabilities, but the definition of 'core' is slowly beginning to evolve. Today's executives are finding that offshore providers can complete increasingly complicated functions such as market analysis, financial modeling and customer management. Operating on a 24x7 basis, BPO providers increase the velocity of information, thereby providing a significant competitive advantage."

Mr. Bhargava told the group that industry revenues generated by knowledge-based services are expected to grow to $5 billion in 2010 from $1.2 billion in 2006. Approximately 40,000 BPO analysts in India currently are involved in these services, he said, and the total is expected to grow to approximately 87,000 by 2010.

Roundtable attendees also heard that, according to IDC research, more than 70 percent of FTSE 250 companies currently are reviewing BPO as a viable sourcing strategy.
